As we expand our Custom division and launch a large residential community, we are adding a Estimator / Purchaser to strengthen estimating accuracy, purchasing discipline, and pre-job coordination.

About the Role

This role supports both Custom and Semi-Custom Production work. You will be responsible for building accurate estimates, coordinating trade partner pricing, and executing purchasing activities that set projects up for successful construction.

This is a hands-on, detail-driven role. It is ideal for someone who enjoys numbers, accuracy, and structure and who takes pride in getting things right before a project ever breaks ground.

What You'll Do

• Daily responsibilities include:
• Produce accurate conceptual and detailed estimates for Custom and Production homes
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop clear, disciplined scopes of work
• Manage bid cycles with trade partners and review proposals for scope completeness
• Coordinate pricing, selections, and scope details with designers and our Selections Manager
• Prepare Buildertrend-ready job setups using established templates, including budgets, cost codes, specs, and selections
• Issue all pre-job start purchase orders after budget approval and Notice to Proceed
• Create complete turnover packages for the Operations team
• Improve estimating, purchasing, and documentation workflows over time

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven estimating and/or purchasing experience in residential construction
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
• Comfort working with numbers, takeoffs, spreadsheets, and pricing
• Ability to read and interpret plan sets across multiple disciplines
• Clear, professional communication style
• Alignment with our values: Honesty, Integrity, Service, Results, Growth

Preferred:

• Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction software

Why This Role Matters

Choice Builders is scaling from 6-10 custom homes per year into a combined custom + production model. Accurate estimating and disciplined purchasing are critical to protecting margins, reducing surprises, and supporting our field teams.

This role directly impacts project success, trade partner relationships, and client experience.

Location Matters

This is a boots-on-the-ground role. Daily in-office presence in Cedar City is essential for collaboration with our selections, sales, and operations teams. Candidates who already live in the area or who are sincerely committed to relocating to a smaller, outdoor-oriented community tend to succeed and stay long-term. We are looking for someone who wants to plant roots here and grow with our team.
